BIO

Associate Professor Bryan Heit serves in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at Western University. His research program integrates phagocytosis, cell biology, and innate immunity to understand how macrophages clear dead cells and pathogens. He specifically investigates the molecular defects in efferocytosis that contribute to atherosclerosis and chronic inflammatory conditions. Having earned a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Calgary, he is a scientist at the Robarts Research Institute. He teaches courses in advanced immunology and supervises graduate students in the Heit Lab, and he is currently available for new doctoral student inquiries.
