Associate Professor Ryan Willing conducts research in the Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering at Western University. His scholarly work emphasizes computational biomechanics, orthopedics, implant design, and biomechanical engineering, focusing on the optimization of joint replacement components. He investigates the relationship between implant geometry and the resulting bone stresses and joint kinematics. Holding a Doctor of Philosophy from Queen's University, he is a core researcher in the Bone and Joint Institute. He teaches courses in engineering experimentation and supervises graduate students exploring musculoskeletal modeling, joint mechanics, orthopaedic biomechanics and surgical planning, and he is currently available for new research collaborations and student mentorship.
