Professor Sameer Elsayed, Departments of Medicine, Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, and Epidemiology and Biostatistics, Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, Western University, leads research on antimicrobial resistance, antimicrobial stewardship, infectious diseases epidemiology, healthcare quality, and molecular diagnostic assays. His work tracks resistant organisms, develops diagnostic approaches for infectious diseases, and identifies strategies that support safer antimicrobial use. His research mission is to improve infectious disease care by combining microbiology, epidemiology, and quality-focused clinical practice. He has authored more than 160 peer-reviewed manuscripts and also holds cross-appointed roles in infectious diseases and microbiology at Western University.
