Miranda Green-Barteet, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor Cross-appointed in English and Writing Studies and Gender, Sexuality, and Women Studies at Western University. Her research focuses on issues of race, gender, and power in both 19th-century US literature and in contemporary Young Adult literature. She has published on U.S. slave narratives written by Black women, early U.S. drama written by women, and girls’ subjectivity in contemporary YA dystopian fiction. Her co-edited book, Race in Young Adult Speculative Fiction, was named the Best Edited Book for 2023 by the Children’s Literature Association. She is the Gale and Graham Wright Distinguished Scholar in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at Western University for 2024-25. Dr. Green-Barteet teaches courses on U.S. literature, women writers, Young Adult literature, girlhood studies, and gender theory.
