Associate Professor Joshua Schuster serves within the Department of English and Writing Studies at Western University. His academic pursuits integrate environmental humanities, ecocriticism, and modernism to examine the intersections of literature and ecology. He specifically investigates how poetic forms and cultural narratives respond to the shifting ethics of extinction and the Anthropocene. Holding a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Pennsylvania, he actively supervises graduate students exploring American literature and animal studies. He recently published a significant monograph on the conceptual history of the extinction of species and is available for doctoral supervision.
