BIO

Dr. Jibran Khokhar is an Associate Professor in the Department of Anatomy & Cell Biology at Western University and Canada Research Chair in Translational Neuropsychopharmacology. His research focuses on the neuroscience of addiction and mental health, with an emphasis on translating fundamental discoveries into new approaches to substance use disorders.

 

Within Western, Dr. Khokhar serves as Associate Chair, Research in Anatomy & Cell Biology, and Associate Director for the Western Institute for Neuroscience. He is also a member of the University Research Board and a Scientist in the Children’s Health Research Institute,. He also serves as Chair of the CIHR Institute of Neurosciences, Mental Health and Addiction Institute Advisory Board, contributing to research strategy and priorities in neuroscience and mental health.

 

Dr. Khokhar has published more than 90 peer-reviewed papers and secured nearly $12 million in competitive research funding. He is also committed to making neuroscience more accessible, developing open-source research technologies that enable laboratories, including those in low-resource settings, to access advanced experimental tools.
