BIO

Professor Douglas Hamilton conducts research in the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology and the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry at Western University. His scholarly work focuses on wound healing, extracellular matrix, and biomaterials, particularly regarding the interactions between cells and their microenvironment in fibrotic diseases. He investigates how surface topography of implants affects tissue integration and scarring. Holding a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Glasgow, he is a core researcher in the Bone and Joint Institute. He teaches courses in dental anatomy and supervises graduate students exploring regenerative medicine, and he is currently available for doctoral student mentorship.
