BIO

Dr. Julie S. Byrd, PhD, (aka Byrd Clark) is Associate Professor in Critical Policy and Educational Leadership Studies (CPELS). Most of her pedagogy and research contributions have been associated with language and intercultural education, communication and research; multilingualism, identity construction and social difference; language acquisition, critical ethnography; French language pedagogy; as well as transdisciplinary approaches when making sense of language use.

Currently, she explores ancient ways of communing and working with the more-than-human world (eco-translanguaging). Julie continues to learn, be inspired by, and work with Indigenous methodologies, particularly reflexivity. Her areas of expertise and interests deeply align with promoting, advocating, and supporting Indigenous language resurgence and revitalization as well as on-going efforts to decolonize the academy.
