BIO

Professor Pauline Barmby is a researcher in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at Western University. Her research in extragalactic astronomy involves observational studies of stellar populations, star clusters, and active galactic nuclei via multiwavelength imaging and spectroscopy. She seeks to understand the star formation histories of galaxies and in particular nearby and low surface brightness galaxies. Holding a PhD from Harvard University, she is a member of the Institute for Earth and Space Exploration and the Rotman Institute of Philosophy. She teaches astrophysics and supervises Astronomy graduate students and has co-supervised students in Statistics, Computer Science, and Geography.
