BIO

I teach three graduate communications courses in the Master of Media in Journalism and Communication program and one undergraduate course in the Digital Communications Certificate program.

I began teaching at the post-secondary level in the Faculty of Communication Studies at Mount Royal University. Student work created for my courses won both the Canadian Association of Journalists’ Award of Student Excellence (2016, 2015, 2014) and the Associated College Press Multimedia Feature of the Year (2015). I joined the FIMS team in 2016 and began teaching in the MMJC program. In 2020, I was the winner of the Dean’s Award for Excellence in Teaching.

My professional experience includes over a decade of marketing, advertising and communications roles with various corporate and non-profit organizations.

As a Teaching Scholar, my current areas of research are the interrelation between academic programs and internships in the communications industry, and Focus and Feedback Literacy—an interdisciplinary initiative. My ongoing interests include incorporation of work-integrated learning in my graduate-level courses, development of teaching innovations for classroom application and provision of internship support to graduate students.
