Associate Professor Derek Mitchell is situated in the Department of Psychiatry and the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology at Western University. His research specializes in affective neuroscience, social cognition, and neuropsychiatry, focusing on the neural basis of emotional regulation and decision-making. He works to understand how disruptions in these systems contribute to psychiatric conditions such as psychopathy and social anxiety. Holding a Doctor of Philosophy from University College London, he is a member of the Western Institute for Neuroscience. He supervises graduate students in the Brain and Mind Institute and is currently available for doctoral mentorship in cognitive and clinical neuroscience.
