BIO

Associate Professor Craig J. Railton, Department of Anaesthesia and Perioperative Medicine, Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, Western University, leads research in perioperative medicine, patient safety, pharmacogenetics, beta-blocker metabolism, and cardiovascular medications under anesthesia. His work studies how altered physiology during anesthesia changes drug response and how personalized medicine can improve perioperative management for high-risk patients. His mission is to make surgery safer by refining medication decisions before, during, and after anesthesia. Previously trained in chemistry and clinical pharmacology, he also contributes strongly to teaching and received a Western University undergraduate teaching award.
