Dr. Hossein Khalili, RN, BScN, MScN, PhD, FNAP: As an internationally recognized scholar, expert, and leader in health professional education and practice, I have spent the past twenty-five years advancing academic leadership across diverse and progressive roles. My career includes serving as Professor and Senior Associate Dean of Academic Administration at the Winston-Salem State University School of Health Sciences, where I led key initiatives to strengthen academic programs. I am also the Co-founding President of InterprofessionalResearch.Global (IPR.Global), a global organization dedicated to advancing interprofessional education, practice research, and policy. Additionally, I serve as Co-Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Best Practices in Health Professions Diversity.

I have been honored as a Distinguished Fellow and Scholar of the National Academies of Practice, and have contributed to various prestigious organizations. This includes my role as Director of the UW Center for Interprofessional Practice and Education (UW CIPE) at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and Professor and Coordinator of BIEN and International Projects and Partnership at Fanshawe College, as well as serving as an Executive Member of both the American Interprofessional Health Collaborative (AIHC) and the Canadian Interprofessional Health Collaborative (CIHC). I have also contributed to three Health-Canada-funded IPE projects and chaired the CIHC-ResearchNet, focusing on research to enhance collaborative health care.

Currently, as Senior Associate Dean at WSSU School of Health Sciences, I oversee the academic administration and accreditation of 18 undergraduate and graduate health professional programs. In this capacity, I provide leadership in developing, expanding, and improving academic programs, ensuring their integrity, and monitoring student success and equity outcomes. I also guide the implementation of "best practices" within the disciplines and oversee strategic research and academic initiatives for the school.

In my previous role as Director of UW CIPE, I led the development and implementation of a five-year strategic plan focused on four key priorities: Partnership, Education, Scholarship, and Sustainability. Under my leadership, UW CIPE developed and implemented the Two-Tier IPE Integration System at UW-Madison that resulted on numerous initiatives, including, the UW IPE Path of Distinction Program; the IPE (Micro-Credential) Badger Program; the IPE Telehealth Healthy Aging Initiative (in collaboration with WI DHS); the IPE Experiential Clinical and Community Placements; the IPE Knowledge Exchange Series; the Joint Dual IPE Distinguished Fellowship (in collaboration with the UW–Madison Teaching Academy); and the Mischler IPE Student Scholarship (open to all UW–Madison programs).

My IPE work is not only grounded in research, but I have also demonstrated my expertise in IPE scholarship. I have conducted (as PI & Co-I) over 30 research projects with over $14 million in funding (from which more than 15 projects involved multi-organizational, community, and patient partnerships); authored about 100 journal papers/ reports; 16 books/chapters; (co)developed/standardized and published five IPE instruments; and presented close to 200 abstracts and invited speeches. My original research works, including interprofessional Socialization framework and dual identity, are well-received in U.S. and around the globe with over 2550 citations. My excellence work in integrating research, teaching, and leadership in IPE has been well recognized by the scientific community as evidenced by receiving numerous prestigious awards including, but not limited to: the NAP Interprofessional Group Recognition Award (2025), the Excellence in Global Interprofessional Collaboration Award (2023), the American Interprofessional Scholarship Award (2022), Distinguished Scholar and Fellow of the National Academies of Practice (NAP) (2020), Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care Nomination for Outstanding Achievement ACE Award (2015); FHS Nomination for Fanshawe President’s Distinguished Achievement Award for Research/Innovation (2013); Western FHS Recognition of Excellence Awards (2010 and 2016); Western Teaching Honor Roll Awards (2010 and 2015); the Provincial Nurse Educators Interest Group Award from Registered Nurses' Foundation of Ontario (2010); Recognition of Excellence in Research award (2010); and Dean’s Award for Research Excellence – 2nd Place (2008).
