BIO
Professor Marshall is an Associate Professor and Director of the Social Justice in Mental Health Research Lab in the School of Occupational Therapy at Western University. Her research focuses on intersections between poverty and mental health, with a particular focus on homelessness among persons living with mental illness (including substance use disorders). In particular, her research explores how we can create a health and social care system, policies and communities that enable individuals to thrive following homelessness, and in so doing, improve tenancy sustainment and the mental health of individuals who have been housed. This work involves the co-creation of a system that provides deeply affordable housing, peer support, inclusive communities and services that meet the needs of people who have experienced homelessness.
