BIO

Associate Professor James Peter Doelman, Department of English and Writing Studies, Faculty of Arts and Humanities, Western University, researches manuscript poetry and prose, the early seventeenth century, attribution of authorship, English semantics, and the rhetoric of manuscript newsletters, with continuing interests in the poetry of George Herbert. His research mission is to recover how manuscript culture shaped politics, satire, language, and literary circulation in early modern England. Doelman also teaches sixteenth- and seventeenth-century literature, poetics, and courses on J. R. R. Tolkien and C. S. Lewis. He holds a Master of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy from McMaster University.
