Professor Steven Laviolette is situated in the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology at Western University. His research specializes in addiction, mental health, and cannabinoid pharmacology, focusing on the neural circuits underlying motivation and emotional processing. He works to clarify how adolescent exposure to drugs like cannabis influences the risk for developing schizophrenia and other neuropsychiatric disorders. Holding a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Toronto, he is a member of the Western Institute for Neuroscience. He supervises a large group of researchers in the Addiction Research Group and is currently available for doctoral student mentorship and collaborative student projects.
