Professor Yang Song, Department of Chemistry, Western University, studies materials under extreme conditions using high-pressure research, diamond anvil cells, Raman microspectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared microspectroscopy, and solar cell materials. His research examines how pressure alters structure, bonding, and optoelectronic behavior in advanced materials, especially those relevant to energy applications. His mission is to use extreme-condition spectroscopy to uncover pathways for better-performing functional materials. He contributes to Western University’s interdisciplinary chemistry and physics environment, and his recent work on solar cell technology has attracted international attention.
