BIO
Professor Sean Shieh conducts research in the Department of Earth Sciences at Western University. His scholarly work focuses on high-pressure mineral physics, geophysics, and materials science, particularly the behavior of Earth and planetary materials under extreme conditions. He investigates the elasticity, strength, structural transformations of minerals at depth to better understand the composition, structure and dynamics of the Earth’s and other planetary mantle and core. He is a member of the Institute for Earth and Space Exploration. He supervises graduate researchers in deep-planet materials and specrtoscopy of planetary and industry materials. He is currently available for student inquiries regarding mineral physics.
