Bernd Steinbock, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor in Department of Classical Studies at Western University. His research examines how ancient communities remember conflict, mobilize the past, and frame political experience through historiography and public discourse. Steinbock also teaches Greek history, historiography, and oratory. 

After studying Latin, Greek and History in Germany, Steinbock earned his PhD in Classical Studies at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. He came to Western in 2005, and served for many years as Undergraduate Chair in the Department of Classical Studies.
