Dr. Cheng completed her Paediatrics residency and Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine fellowship training at Western University. She completed her Masters in Health Professions Education at Maastricht University and Western University. 

Dr. Cheng joined the Department of Paediatrics at Western University in 2016. She is the education program director of the Neonatal-Perinatal  Medicine Subspecialty Training Program and the CBME Team Lead. She is the Deputy Chair of Education, Department of Paediatrics; supporting Undergraduate Medical Education, Postgraduate Medical Education, Pediatric Fellowship Programs, Continuing Medical Education, the Rural Pediatrics Committee, and the Paediatrics Medical Education Research Community of Practice. She is also the Founder and Director of the Chinese-Canadian Neonatal Network Academic Enrichment Program, a fellowship program for neonatal fellows in China.
