Debbie Laliberte Rudman, PhD, OT Reg.(Ont.), is a Distinguished University Professor in the School of Occupational Therapy in the Faculty of Health Sciences at Western University. Her research group, Transforming Occupational Possibilities, investigates the socio-political shaping of intersecting health, occupational and social inequities, such as those associated with long-term unemployment, precarious work, and with disability in later life, placing these in relation to neoliberalism and other broader socio-political forces. Her scholarship aims to address how differences in occupational possibilities, that is, the occupations people have opportunities to participate in, are shaped through contextual factors and within social relations of power. Within her research, teaching and service, she is committed to enacting participatory and collaborative approaches that mark out directions forward in expanding occupational possibilities and reducing intersecting social, health and occupational inequities.
