My recent teaching has ranged between a narrow focus on a single author (i.e. the Gawain-poet) to an expansive exploration of the British literary tradition (i.e. the Brit-lit survey). In both contexts I try to encourage students to recognize and engage with a literary tradition which is often foreign in terms of both its texts and its aesthetic and ethical sensibilities.
