BIO

Associate Professor Stephen Pasternak serves in the Department of Clinical Neurological Sciences and the Department of Physiology and Pharmacology at Western University. His research program integrates Alzheimer’s disease, lysosomal biology, and biomarkers to understand the molecular mechanisms of neurodegeneration. He specifically focuses on the role of cathepsins and endosomes in the formation of amyloid plaques. Having earned both a Medical Degree and a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Toronto, he is a scientist at the Robarts Research Institute. He supervises graduate researchers in the Western Institute for Neuroscience and is currently available for doctoral mentorship and research consultation for students.
