BIO

Professor David Edgell serves in the Department of Biochemistry at Western University. His research program integrates genome editing, synthetic biology, and molecular genetics to develop advanced tools for precise DNA modification. He specifically focuses on the structure and function of homing endonucleases and CRISPR-associated proteins for biotechnological applications. Having earned a Doctor of Philosophy from Dalhousie University, he is affiliated with the Rotman Institute of Philosophy. He teaches courses in molecular biology and supervises graduate students in the Edgell Lab, where they explore innovative methods for microbial engineering, and he is currently available for new doctoral student supervision.
